Azercosmos represented at GLEX 2021 under leadership of Minister Rashad Nabiyev

A delegation of Azercosmos led by Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev is taking part in the Global Space Exploration Conference 2021 (GLEX 2021), global space research event of the International Astronautical Federation in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation.

 

The event is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin’s flight into space, which symbolizes the beginning of a new era for humanity.

 

A stand, presentation and videos about the history of Azerbaijan’s space industry, the country’s space activities over the past 10 years, as well as culture and history, and tourism potential are presented at the GLEX 2021.

 

At the opening ceremony, Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Rashad Nabiyev spoke about the legal entity of public law “Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Azercosmos)” established by the decree of President Ilham Aliyev in April this year. The Minister said that the activities of the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan will create a solid foundation for building space diplomacy and partnership at the global and regional levels, constant updating knowledge and skills in the fields of space science, education and industry, as well as expanding cooperation in telecommunications and Earth observation services.

 

Then Rashad Nabiyev expressed confidence that the 74th International Astronautics Congress to be held in Baku in 2023 will bring a “new breath” to the development of space field in our country, especially in the region.

 

Through the GLEX 2021 platform, the international space community and guests of the event were invited to the International Astronautics Congress to be held in Baku in 2023.

 

It should be noted that at the GLEX 2021 event, which brings together the space community, space agencies from member countries of the International Astronautical Federation – Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Austria, France, Norway, Belgium, Poland, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, including plenary and series sessions are held with the participation of astronauts performing space missions. This platform creates ample opportunities for our country in terms of establishing new cooperation in the field of space at the global level, the establishment of mutual business relations with potential partners for the use of space for both peaceful and commercial purposes.

 

GLEX 2021 event will run until June 18 and will include sessions on topics covering space researches and new missions.
